Keeping the Fire Burning.

This is the first Sunday after…  After Camp-meeting.   How do we take Camp-meeting home with us?   Whether you were in Oklahoma, Florida, or other places  the message was basically the same.   Get back to the basics of the Gospel, renew our mind with the word of God, and get fired up/stirred up to show the light of the Good News to everyone around us.

One way to keep the fire burning is to stay focused on the truth.   This is something you can do on your own.

  1. Read the word of God.  Proverbs 4: 20-22.   Attend to the Word of God for it is Life…
  2. Focus on what the word says and not wives tales.   “God is using my sickness to teach me something”, God will get glory out of my sickness.   It is embarrassing to hear this come out of people’s mouths because they have just revealed that they know nothing about what the Bible actually says but instead rely on rumors they have heard or read instead of actual scripture.
  3. Get around other people who actually read the Bible and enjoy talking about the truth.
  4. Try to find a church that actually preaches the Gospel and you need a Bible with you when you go.   (You know you are not going to remember one word up on that screen other than who was called to the nursery)
  5. The internet is full of websites and teachers that preach the actual Gospel and not all this junk that has been passed on from generation to generation.  If there is nothing available in your area get online.  I generally tweet services that I am attending online. (One thing about online teaching: You will have to verify that what they are preaching is in the Bible.  Everyone makes mistakes.  Even the best teachers  accidentally misquote scriptures, mix up names of Bible people, give out the wrong reference for a scripture etc.  Not on purpose it just happens.

Another way to keep the fire burning is get together with like minded Christians and stir each other up.

  1.  Attend an on fire Bible study.   A real one not just a bunch of friends that get together and talk nonsense but one that has a purpose and people learn something that can change their life.    ex:    I know of a Bible study that gathers at a cattle sale barn.   It’s not a church and they do not have regular church meetings.   Many people of different denominations attend and they teach the Gospel.
  2. If nothing is available in your area again get online or check your local TV programming.  There are a few out there that teach the word.

And finally try to find a place to fellowship and become a part that is Bible based, uplifting, encouraging and spend more time talking about the Gospel than what other people/ministries are doing wrong.

  1. A place where they help stir up the gifts not stir up the pot.
  2. It would be more beneficial to attend a good bible based church service once a month that it would be to go weekly to a church that rambles and preaches doctrines of demons, traditional mistruths, and wives tales.
  3. Do NOT go home from Camp Meeting and try to change your church.   As we grow in knowledge and understanding you may need to find a church home that helps you grow instead of hindering your growth.   Generally we move on from the nursery, pre-school, elementary, secondary and collegiate education.
  4. Pray, Pray, Pray.

I encourage you to do what you can on your own and ask God to guide you toward people who enjoy Him as much as you do.  If you belong to a Bible Based church that preaches the Gospel then Glory to God for you!  Get in and get involved and help become a worker in the field of harvest.   Nothing like keeping yourself stirred up by renewing your mind to the truths in the Bible.   If your church isn’t Bible based and does not preach the Gospel then you really need to pray to find a Church home that does.  (Believe me I know how daunting a task that can be)   But keep your chin up and get into the Word!

Ask God and do what His word Says! Keep stirring up the Gifts and devote ourselves to prayer and attending to His word.   Being a good steward of ALL that He has given us including our Bodies.  And praising Him everyday for what he has done.  Let’s not let the embers from the fire of Camp-meeting die out.  Keep stirring up the Gifts.

Amazed again…

Do you ever “catch on” to a word or phrase and for the first time it sticks and you have a new understanding of what you’ve been listening to for the last 10 years?  Thanks so much to the ministers who go over the basics on a regular basis.  I know you probably get tired of it but sometimes a great “word picture” or even a diagram makes all the difference in the world.  I’m really thrilled to be sharing my “aha” moment regarding the Spirit, Soul and Body.   Yes I know super basic teaching but this morning a simple picture brought everything full circle.

Stand up! Stand up 4 Jesus!

During times of great tragedy we need to not act like those with no hope.  Some how somewhere over the years  Jesus and all he did was lost in the translation.

Jesus and God are not the ones that the Bible says are here to kill, steal, and destroy.  It’s someone else.  In fact it’s a defeated someone else.  As Christians we “need to use our heads for more than just hat rack.”   Let’s put on our thinking caps and set folks straight.

God does not roam around like a lion seeking whom he can destroy.   God is love.  And God LOVES us that he sent his son Jesus to die for our sins and so much more.  Let’s Stand up for Jesus and Stand up for God! Let’s get the record straight for the lost and babes in Christ.  The last thing a babe in Christ needs to hear is some ignorant but meaning well Christian to pull the “God took him to be with him” card or the “This happened so God would get glory out of it somehow in the long run but we really don’t know what or how because he works in mysterious ways.”

If you don’t know what to say then remain silent. But don’t take the one thing that a Babe needs during a time of tragedy away from them.  It’s so hard to trust in a God that people are telling you “took” your loved ones.

I Know I’m probably rubbing some of you the wrong way.  So I suggest you turn around…    We just don’t have the luxury of spreading ignorance anymore.  People are dying and suffering and they need the TRUTH!

By the way…big shout out to all you straight forward no nonsense ministers of the GOSPEL!  We need you!

Don’t have much 2 give?? I bet U Do

People r always thinking wrong when they think they don’t have much 2 give or they don’t have the skills 2 b helpful.  If u know someone n ministry that spends time helping others U might b surprised 2 know that if u can laugh, drink coffee or tea,  eat  out or cook toast u may b just what somebody needs.    Invite a ministry friend over or out 4 toast, coffee, & some laughs. U might just B surprised.

Happy He is Risen day!

There r numerous names for tomorrow.   ” I get to eat beef day”, I get to have chocolate day,   Lent is over day,  Easter, Resurrection Sunday,  and the list goes on.

But, I think we r all on the same page when we stop 2 celebrate the life that Jesus gave us.   When we remember what his death accomplished. So much was accomplished in one day even Jesus himself shouted “It is finished!”  Just so we wouldn’t forget.    One sacrifice for all for all time.  No more bringing chickens, doves, pigs, grains etc. to the priest for when you sin.    Jesus paid it all for all for all time.

Don’t get caught up in the technicalities of theologians arguing these days.   Let’s focus on what was accomplished on the cross and not get lost in the arguments.     When He said “It is finished!”  he didn’t say ” It’s finished so you can argue about what happened for the next 2000 years”.

Let us put our arguments aside and focus on The life and purpose that God has given all of us He paid a very expensive price and so we could live and look forward to being with Him one day.

Let’s bury our past, our old fleshly man and the fleshly way of doing things.  It’s time to resurrect Christ in our hearts, lives, and Churches.

He is Risen!

Have you checked the App Store?

I recently searched for Ministry Apps.  Wow… it’s amazing.   If you have a unpredictable schedule these ministry apps are great.  Listen to teaching, read devotions, check the event schedules.  Thoroughly enjoying the Mark Hankins Ministry app.   It’s good to laugh at ourselves, our situations, and the Devil … Ha Ha Ha… I get it now!!!

I think it said there were 734 apps the last time I checked.  Surely there is an Ministry app out there 4 U.

Is Sickness your Friend? Improving communication skills.

“You know I just don’t feel like it today.  Maybe some other time.”   How many times have we heard people say that?  Sometimes it may be true but how many of us have said that and were not thinking?   Few hours later hmmmm…I don’t feel very good.

How many times have you used sickness to bail you out of a situation?  In that instant. Sickness became your Best Friend.  I know it is a difficult thing to just be honest and say…”You know…I’m just not interested in going to that.  We can find something else to do later but I want you to go ahead and enjoy that activity with someone else who likes to go shopping at 4:00 am.   Have fun… let me know all about it.”

“You know I just bought a fresh steak and I just want to stay home cook a great meal and read a book tonight.”   Yes I have literally said that… and you know my friends survived a night without me.  They know I’m a great cook so they understood although they were disappointed.

Just being honest with people will set the stage for being a healthier person.  When we lie to people it has a tendency to cause stress in our own body.  The truth will set you free and in this case keep you free from making yourself sick.

Need to improve your communication skills.  Dr. Gary Chapman (Five Love Languages…etc) Website is a great place to start for learning the art of communication for any relationship.

Let’s keep ourselves healthy by NOT using sickness as an excuse when we would be better off communicating honestly with people.
